The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a fresh eviction notice to roadside traders at Kihunguro, Allsops, and Delview along the Thika Superhighway.
In a notice, dated February 23, 2026, KeNHA issued 7-days notice to the traders to vacate the area.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify all roadside traders operating along Thika-Superhighway at Kihunguro (both bounds) and Delview Sections remove and clear the wares from the road reserve within seven days from the day of this notice”, the statement read.
According to KeNHA, this is to allow construction of designated roadside stations along the busy corridor.
KeNHA revealed that the planned stations will enhance corridor functionality, boost safety standards, and help address the persistent traffic congestion that has long frustrated commuters along the Thika Superhighway.
“The project is part of the ongoing road safety improvement initiatives that seeks to reduce accidents , enhance order within the road reserve, and ensure an instructed flow of the traffic along the Highway”, the statement added.
TThe authority therefore urged traders to comply to avoid enforcement action.
This comes after demolition operations were conducted by KeNHA in Githurai, which sparked outrage as residents clashed with police causing blockage for vehicles to pass.
Traders were not willing to comply with the directive as some claimed there had not been issued a notice before.
However, KeNHA maintained the Githurai demolitions were carried out lawfully, noting the area had recorded numerous road safety incidents due to structures encroaching on the road reserve over time.
