MCA Held in Probe Into Ksh51.4 Million Irregular Payments

Garissa County MCA has been apprehended in connection with a Ksh51.4 million corruption case.

According to reports, the MCA was arrested along with two other former county officials who previously served as Director of Accounting Services and Senior Principal Economist in the County Government of Garissa.

According to EACC, the three were involved in fraudulent payments of the funds from the county government to a private store for goods and services that were never procured by the County Government of Garissa, nor supplied.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a Garissa County MCA, two former officials over Ksh51.4 million fraudulent payments,” the statement read.

The suspects are set to be arraigned in court today.

“”The three suspects were arrested on 22nd February 2026 and are scheduled to be arraigned before the Garissa Law Courts today, 23rd February 2026, at 0900 for plea taking,” the statement added.

This comes after Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s bond was reportedly reduced to approximately 20 million.

Reports indicate that the governor has been serving his sentence at Kamiti prison.

Waititu was charged in a corruption case worth millions together with his wife.

Having appeared in court to face their sentence, they were found guilty in the case. Waititu was therefore directed to pay at least Ksh. 53 million or 12 years in prison.
