The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have apprehended a Kisumu County Official over corruption charges.
The suspect was arrested on February 9, 2026, after allegedly receiving a bribe of KSh. 10,000.
According to the EACC, this followed investigations by the commission where the suspect allegedly received a bribe of Ksh 18,500 from a businessman operating a Matatu between Kisumu and Kisii after threatening to open charges against him.
By the time of his arrest, he had already received a bribe of Ksh. 10,000.
However, the suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a cash bail of Kes20,000 or an alternative bond of Kes50,000.
The case is set for a hearing on February 25, 2026.
