Njoro Girls Senior School in Nakuru County has been closed indefinitely following the death of a Form Four student.
This followed tensions which escalated after parents and local residents protested outside the school, demanding clarity on the circumstances surrounding the death of the student.
Police had to be deployed in the area to disperse the crowd who stormed the school, demanding answers.
According to reports, the student lost her life while receiving treatment at Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital after reportedly falling ill while in school.
However, the family claimed that the school did not offer prompt medical help and also failed to notify relatives in time as her condition deteriorated.
The family is now calling for investigations into how the school handles student health emergencies and communication with parents.
