2 Suspects Arrested with Live Ammunition on Garissa–Thika Highway

On Monday, February 2, a multi-agency security team arrested two suspects carrying live ammunition at Kanyonyoo along the Garissa–Thika highway.

The National Police Service (NPS) reported on Tuesday, February 3, that the suspects were apprehended after officers intercepted a public service vehicle (PSV) bus.

During the search, the security team found a backpack on a passenger seat containing 30 rounds of live ammunition.

The two suspects were immediately arrested and taken to Kanyonyoo Police Station, where they are being processed ahead of their court arraignment.

The bus involved in the incident was also detained, and the recovered ammunition secured as evidence.

The arrests come as part of ongoing efforts by the National Police Service to combat illegal firearms and enhance public safety.

Notably, weeks earlier, DCI detectives apprehended three suspected members of a violent criminal gang and recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with ten rounds of ammunition.

The firearm was found hidden in a thicket within one of the suspects’ homesteads.

The operation was carried out by detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), supported by the DCI Operations Unit and Uasin Gishu-based counterparts.

The suspects Titus Wainaina Njoroge, Jeremiah Njuguna Kinyanjui (aka Chikudee), and Patrick Kinuthia Mwangi are believed to have been involved in armed robberies and other violent crimes across the county.
