Winnie Odinga Dismisses Oketch Salah’s Claims Over Her Father’s Death

EALA MP Winnie Odinga has taken issue with businessman Oketch Salah over claims he made regarding the death of her father, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, January 27, Winnie dismissed Salah’s assertion that he was present at the time of her father’s death, describing the claim as false and deeply concerning.

She said she had previously met Salah but questioned his credibility, warning that fabricating events around such a sensitive matter was dangerous and raised serious questions about his motives.

Winnie further argued that the nature of Salah’s statements warranted immediate scrutiny, either from medical professionals or investigative authorities.

She added that such claims should not be taken lightly, stressing that spreading false narratives about personal and sensitive issues could have serious consequences.

Winnie’s remarks come days after Salah broke his silence to respond to accusations and speculation surrounding his relationship with Raila Odinga.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, January 20, Salah addressed claims questioning whether he was present during the former Prime Minister’s illness.

He maintained that he was with Raila from the onset of his sickness until his final moments, insisting that his account was neither driven by a desire for sympathy nor political gain, but was meant to set the record straight.

Salah said he felt compelled to respond directly to the accusations, stressing that his statements were based on what he described as factual events rather than personal or political motivations.

He also spoke about the emotional toll of witnessing Raila’s illness, saying he was present during moments of intense suffering, sometimes with only a security guard for support.

Salah claimed that he and Raila held private discussions during this period but declined to share details, citing respect for the former Prime Minister and his family.

He went on to deny allegations that he disrespected Raila’s family or sought to replace them, dismissing such claims as false and malicious.

Salah maintained that he has nothing to hide and is open to public scrutiny, insisting that political pressure and online backlash cannot change what he described as the truth.
