Democratic Action Party–Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has announced plans to form a political alliance with National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and other leaders from the Western Kenya region.
Speaking at a public event in Trans Nzoia on Saturday, January 25, Wamalwa said cooperation among regional leaders would be critical to strengthening unity in Western Kenya.
He noted that DAP-K and FORD Kenya remain the region’s most politically stable and vibrant parties.

Wamalwa emphasized that such unity is essential to consolidating the region’s political influence, particularly as the country prepares for the 2027 General Elections.
However, he was quick to clarify that the proposed collaboration is aimed at safeguarding Western Kenya’s political interests and should not be interpreted as support for President Ruto’s administration.
Speaking at the same event, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula disclosed that he is working on a political pact with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Co-operatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya to consolidate support for President Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Wetang’ula said the proposed alliance is strategically aimed at positioning the Western region to assume national leadership in 2032, noting that the transition would be smoother if Eugene Wamalwa joins the coalition.
He further underscored the importance of mutual respect between senior political figures and emerging leaders in the region, warning that sustained divisions could weaken Western Kenya’s political bargaining power and lead to its marginalisation on the national stage.
