President William Ruto has nominated Francis Meja as the new Chairperson of the Public Service Commission (PSC).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, January 21, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei confirmed that Meja’s nomination has been forwarded to the National Assembly for vetting and approval. Koskei noted that Meja is currently serving as a member of the PSC, having been appointed in January 2025.
Meja brings extensive experience to the role, having previously held several senior leadership positions, including serving as the founding Director-General of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

Meja has also previously served as a Council Member at Murang’a University of Technology and as the Registrar of Motor Vehicles in the Ministry of Transport.
According to Koskei, he brings more than 15 years of experience in banking and financial services, having held senior management roles at Equity Bank Kenya PLC and the Housing Finance Company of Kenya (HFCK).
The PSC chair nominee holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi.
If approved by Parliament, he will succeed outgoing chairperson Ambassador Anthony Muchiri.
Meja was among 12 candidates shortlisted for the position.
