Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has described the demolition of his multi-million shilling business premises near Nyayo Stadium as a political witch-hunt.
Speaking on Wednesday, January 14, after inspecting the site along Douglas Wakiihuri Road, Wamatangi stated that he had legally leased the land from Kenya Railways and had been paying monthly fees.
The UDA governor expressed frustration over what he described as political persecution, highlighting that the premises had provided employment for numerous youths over the years.

The Governor stated that he was not given any prior notice before his business premises were demolished.
He added that his lawyers had even secured a court order to halt the demolition after receiving threats that the property was under threat.
Wamatangi described the demolition as an act of cowardice intended to distract him from his development agenda in Kiambu County.
Despite the setback, he vowed to remain focused on serving Kiambu residents until 2027, when the campaign period for the next General Election begins.
On Tuesday, January 13, night-time demolitions using excavators and bulldozers destroyed Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi’s businesses, including a car wash, a restaurant, and several vehicles, with police officers providing security.
Photos obtained by Nairobileo.co.ke showed the premises and vehicles completely flattened.
This marks the second time Wamatangi’s property has been demolished, after a similar operation in 2019 over alleged land disputes.
