Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has alleged that he was confronted by Kileleshwa Ward representative Robert Alai at a Nairobi hotel on Saturday, January 3.
In a statement shared on Facebook on Sunday, January 4, the legislator recounted that he had driven himself to a restaurant along Lenana Road, where he had scheduled a meeting with a clergyman, unaware of the events that would later unfold.
According to Owino, he arrived at the venue at about 3:40 p.m. and held discussions for roughly twenty minutes before standing up to leave.

As he prepared to exit the restaurant, he noticed a group of people he recognized and walked over to exchange greetings. It was only afterward that he realized Alai was among the group.
Babu alleged that upon spotting him, Alai stood up and confronted him aggressively. He claimed the MCA accused him of orchestrating online attacks against Alai’s wife through his supporters.
According to Owino, as he was leaving the restaurant, he noticed a group of people familiar to him seated at a nearby table and approached them out of courtesy to exchange greetings.
He said that shortly after greeting those present, including the Kileleshwa Ward MCA, Alai accused him without provocation of being responsible for hostile social media commentary directed at his wife.
Babu Owino alleged that Robert Alai confronted and assaulted him at a Nairobi hotel, claiming the MCA became aggressive, drew a firearm, struck him, and later poured water on his face.
The MP noted that he reported the incident at Kilimani Police Station and linked the confrontation to political tensions within ODM and his opposition stance.
