Porro Ward Member of the County Assembly (MCA), Patrick Lerte, has died.
Lerte’s death was announced on Sunday morning, December 28, following a brief illness that led to his admission at Samburu County Referral Hospital.
His passing was confirmed by County Assembly Clerk Fred Lenapeer, who noted that Lerte’s health had declined rapidly during the short period he was unwell, ultimately resulting in his death at the referral facility.

Leaders from Samburu remembered Lerte as a dedicated public servant who served the people of Porro Ward with commitment and passion.
Throughout his tenure, he was known for promoting grassroots development, advocating for improved service delivery, and representing his constituents with humility and diligence.
Clerk Lenapeer extended condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and residents of Porro Ward, describing the late MCA as a diligent and dependable leader whose death leaves a significant gap in the County Assembly and across Samburu County.
Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda and Samburu North MP Eli Letipila also expressed their sympathies, honouring Lerte’s service and leadership, and praying for his soul to rest in peace.
Lerte was elected in 2022 on an Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket, which was then a constituent party of the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
The ANC, previously led by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, merged with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in January 2025.
