Matiang’i, Natembeya Hold Political Talks in Trans Nzoia

Jubilee Deputy Party leader Fred Matiang’i on Wednesday, December 17, held talks with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.

In a statement issued after the meeting, Matiang’i said the two leaders reaffirmed their friendship and strong working relationship within the United Opposition.

He added that their discussions focused on the challenges facing the Kenya Kwanza government, as well as the need for accountable leadership and effective management of the country.

Matiang’i noted that the meeting also underscored the need for unity within the opposition to effectively address the economic hardships facing Kenyans.

He noted that opposition leaders must work together to help steer the country out of its current economic challenges.

The talks were attended by United Opposition head of secretariat Mukhisa Kituyi, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, several Trans Nzoia MCAs, and county officials.

The engagement came days after Matiang’i held a separate meeting with PLP leader Martha Karua, PNU leader Peter Munya, UPIA leader Ukur Yattani, and Lenny Kuvuti, where discussions centred on strengthening the opposition and restoring good leadership.

Matiang’i, who is widely seen as eyeing the presidency in the 2027 General Election, has also been hosting political delegations at his Nyansiongo home in Nyamira County as part of efforts to consolidate his support base.
