Suspect Nabbed in KSh200M Karen Land Title Forgery

Detectives from the DCI Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU) have arrested a suspect linked to the fraudulent acquisition of a KSh200 million parcel of land in Karen.

Police said the suspect allegedly forged a title deed, deed of gift and land transfer documents to unlawfully secure ownership of the prime property.

The matter surfaced after a complainant reported that she had bought the land from the legitimate owner, who later died.

Investigations revealed that the deceased had inherited the property from her late mother.

DCI detectives launched investigations and established that the suspect, Benick Otieno Okombo, had prepared falsified documents falsely claiming that the land had been gifted to him by the deceased owner.

After gathering evidence, investigators forwarded the file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which reviewed the case and approved charges of forgery and uttering false documents.

A manhunt was then launched, leading to Okombo’s arrest at Bruce House in Nairobi.

He is currently in police custody as he undergoes processing ahead of his court appearance.

The DCI reaffirmed its commitment to protecting property owners and holding to account individuals involved in land fraud.
