A suspected drug trafficker was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after detectives intercepted her shortly after she landed from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
In a statement issued on Monday, November 24, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that 34-year-old Muli Ayan Ndunge had allegedly attempted to smuggle cocaine into the country by concealing the narcotics in her stomach.
According to the DCI, Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) officers noticed her suspicious behaviour and acted on prior intelligence, stopping her before she could exit the airport.

Detectives then escorted her to the ANU offices for further checks.
During observation, the woman reportedly expelled 14 pellets of cocaine, confirming investigators’ suspicions.
Detectives believed additional pellets were still concealed in her body and maintained close surveillance as monitoring continued.
Their suspicions were confirmed when the woman expelled another 14 pellets, bringing the total to 28.
The recovered narcotics weighed 912.74 grams and had an estimated street value of about Ksh3.6 million.
Once all the pellets had been expelled, officers conducted an X-ray scan to ensure her stomach was clear of any remaining drugs. The scan confirmed that no additional pellets were present.
Ndunge remains in custody as investigators finalise preparations for her arraignment.
