After days of covert surveillance, detectives pounced on the suspects before they could launch another attack.

During interrogation, the two led officers to their hideouts along River Nzoia and in Nabuyola Village, where a stash of stolen items was recovered.

Authorities were able to recover 6kg gas cylinders, assorted electronics, and vehicle batteries, all believed to have been stolen from motorists along the busy highway.

The suspects, identified as William Simiyu and Byron Werunga are currently in custody as investigations conclude ahead of their court appearance.

Meanwhile, security patrols have been intensified along the Eldoret–Malaba highway as police continue to pursue other members of the gang.
