Two people lost their lives while several others sustained injuries after suspected goons attacked a campaign event for Kasipul MP aspirant Boyd Were at Opondo area in Central Kasipul Ward on Thursday, November 6.
In a statement issued on Friday, November 7, Were condoled with the families of the victims, expressing sorrow over the tragic incident.
The ODM candidate alleged that his main rival, Philip Aroko, was behind the violence that disrupted the event.

According to Were, the incident occurred after Aroko’s team allegedly stormed the venue of his event and launched unprovoked attacks against him and his supporters.
He claimed that gunshots were fired by members of Aroko’s team, causing panic and disrupting the event.
The aspirant further alleged that the attackers later proceeded to Nyalenda, where he was scheduled to meet more voters, and vandalized property, including tents and chairs that had been set up for the gathering.
Were reiterated that he does not condone violence in any form, stressing that his campaign and leadership are grounded in peace, respect, and service to all.
Describing the violence in Kasipul as regrettable, the ODM candidate said it does not reflect the true spirit of the constituency.
He urged Kasipul residents to remain calm, exercise restraint, and stand united in the face of the recent unrest.
