Kenyan hip-hop artist Henry Ohanga, popularly known as Octopizzo, has declared his intention to contest the Kibra Parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
In a post on X on Tuesday, November 4, Octopizzo confirmed that his name will appear on the 2027 ballot.
The award-winning musician made the announcement in response to a social media user who encouraged him to take up the mantle of the late Raila Odinga and continue championing social justice.

“I completely understand, and we will continue to mourn; every undemocratic act will always remind us of him. I have heard your request, and inshallah you will see my name on the ballot in Kibra,” Octopizzo noted.
The announcement followed Octopizzo’s remarks that Raila Odinga’s death had disrupted the country’s political landscape, leaving both the government and opposition in disarray.
He noted that many politicians had relied heavily on Raila’s influence rather than their own principles.
The artist further urged young leaders to step forward and contest elective positions, saying the country needs bold and visionary leadership.
