The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has cautioned the public against a fake gazette notice circulating on social media, falsely claiming that the commission has already declared winners of the upcoming November by-elections.
According to the falsified notice, two United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidates had allegedly been declared elected unopposed as Members of the County Assembly for Tembelio and Metkei wards in polls slated for November 27, 2025.
In a statement, IEBC dismissed the document as fake and clarified that it has not issued any official gazette notice declaring candidates duly elected.

IEBC moreover called on the public to stay alert and assist in curbing the spread of false information as the country prepares for the by-elections.
The commission reiterated that any authentic updates will be shared exclusively through its official platforms and advised Kenyans to disregard unofficial reports.
