Government Warns Leaders Against Incitement Following Kahiga’s Remarks

The government has condemned the remarks made by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga regarding the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

His remarks came at a time when Kenya was still mourning the death of Raila Odinga.

In his remarks, Kahiga has stated that ‘God Killed Raila inorder for Kikuyu’s to befit from developments’.

In a statement on October 22, 2025, the government encouraged all leaders to refrain from any hate speeches or language and observe peace.

The governor has since resigned as the Vice Chair of the Council of Governors, and the state has since welcomed his resignation, condemning his actions.

The government has also called for peace and unity among Kenyans.
