EACC Confirms Sale of Properties Seized from Ex-Governor Obado

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has confirmed the successful auction of five properties recovered from former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and ex-Nairobi County Treasury Head Stephen Ogaga Osiro.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 10, the agency said the properties, part of ten assets flagged for disposal under court orders from the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Suit of 2021, were auctioned on October 9, 2025.

The Nairobi-based assets fetched a combined total of Ksh 69.7 million, surpassing their valuation reserve prices.

Among the top sales was Riara Apartment No. FF3 — a three-bedroom unit on LR 330/140, Nairobi/Block 14/247 — which sold for Ksh 14 million.

A three-bedroom apartment at Greenspan Estate on LR No. Nairobi/Block 82/8759 was sold for Ksh 6.95 million, while a two-bedroom unit within the same complex fetched Ksh 6.76 million.

Additionally, Greenspan Estate Maisonette No. 279 on the same land reference was auctioned for Ksh 11 million.

The highest bid of the day went to a Loresho Ridge Estate townhouse on LR No. 21080/63, which sold for Ksh 31 million.

EACC further announced that the remaining properties located in Kisumu and Migori counties will be auctioned on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

EACC has invited the public to participate in the ongoing auction of assets recovered from former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his co-accused.

The commission said proceeds from the sales will be deposited into the Consolidated Fund, as required by Section 56C of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act.

The surrendered assets stem from a plea bargain in a corruption case over the alleged theft of Ksh 73.4 million from the Migori County Government between 2013 and 2017.

Through the agreement, Obado and 17 others forfeited properties worth about Ksh 235 million — more than triple the disputed amount.

EACC engaged three licensed firms — Galaxy, Keyslan, and Astorion Auctioneers — to conduct the sales under court authorization.
