Two suspected gangsters were shot dead on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, during an attempted robbery in Siaya County.
An officer from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) was also injured.
According to the reports, the two middle-aged men stormed a shop at approximately 10:00 p.m., attempting to rob the female shopkeeper.
However, she raised an alarm, grabbing attention from a DCI officer on patrol from Yala Police Station.
The suspects, therefore, attempted to flee the scene and beat the officer with a metal rod, striking him on the chest.
In self-defense, the officer opened fire killing both suspects instantly.
