Thousands of Kenyan TikTokers on Sunday poured into Othaya Town in a moving display of unity and compassion, rallying behind viral content creator Kaluma Boy, whose story of caring for his stroke-stricken father has touched hearts across the country.
Even before making the trip to Othaya, Kenyans had already raised funds to help Kaluma Boy provide for his father’s medical needs.
Photos and videos shared online showed a massive crowd arriving in Othaya aboard hired matatus and bodabodas, before proceeding to Kaluma’s rural home in Chinga for a much-anticipated healing and restoration event.

Kaluma Boy, who often goes live on TikTok while caring for his father, has built a loyal following by documenting the challenges and moments of hope in their day-to-day life.
Soon after, Kenyans rallied together and set up a paybill number to channel financial support to him.
In a storytime video, Kaluma Boy revealed that his father had been unwell for over a year after suffering a stroke, which left him in a three-month coma in August 2024.
Besides the burden of taking care of the father, he revealed several financial constraints that his expensive treatment plan required, including the changing of his catheter.
His treatment also involved frequent therapies, which Kaluma said could cost up to Ksh1,000 per day.
