4 Killed in a Road Accident Along Mombasa-Nairobi Highway

Four people have reportedly died following a road accident along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi Highway on the night of September 15. 

The crash, which occurred in the Kalimbini area near Sultan Hamud, involved a collision between a private car and a lorry.

Images shared online showed that the smaller vehicle was severely mangled following the impact, while the lorry sustained damage to the driver’s cabin.

Police and rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene to aid the retrieval of the bodies and tow away the wreckage, clearing the busy highway.

At the time of publication, the exact number of those injured in the accident had not yet been established. 

The casualties were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the Sultan Hamud mortuary.

Both vehicles involved were towed to the Sultan Hamud Police Station.

The latest tragedy comes only weeks after a deadly accident along the same section of the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway near Kwa Mautiiyo in Malili.

The accident claimed two lives and left three others injured. 

In that incident, a trailer slammed into a pick-up truck head-on as it attempted to overtake, before the trailer crashed into another lorry traveling in the same direction.
