President Ruto on Friday, September 12, hosted grassroots leaders from Murang’a County in a meeting at State House, Nairobi.
The delegation was led by Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina and included, among others, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
Also present were Nominated MP Sabina Chege, former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, Nominated Senator Veronica Maina, and Maragua MP Mary Wamaua.

In his remarks, Ruto cautioned against divisive politics, stressing that Kenya’s progress depends on unity and visionary leadership.
The Head of State moreover unveiled major financial commitments to Murang’a County’s development agenda, outlining projects worth tens of billions of shillings.
He announced that Ksh 23 billion has been allocated for the construction of 10,300 affordable houses, underscoring the government’s commitment to tackling housing challenges in the region.
Infrastructure will also receive a significant boost, with Ksh 3.5 billion earmarked for countywide road upgrades and Ksh 2.3 billion set aside to build 23 modern markets aimed at enhancing local trade.
On education, the President disclosed a Ksh 3 billion plan to put up new student hostels, while an Ksh 850 million electrification project will connect more than 10,000 households to the national grid by December.
Sports and water infrastructure also featured in the package, with two modern stadiums worth Ksh 1.5 billion to be constructed and a Ksh 2.4 billion water project targeting Kangema, Mathioya, Kiharu, and Kandara constituencies.
