A Pakistani national narrowly escaped lynching in Nakuru after an angry mob accused him of fraud, before police intervened.
In a statement issued on Sunday, September 7, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) noted that the suspect, identified as Ahmad Shabbir, was rescued by officers from Nakuru North Sub-County after residents accused him of conning them through false pretences.
“A team of law enforcement officers from Nakuru North Sub-County have rescued a Pakistani national, Ahmad Shabbir, from an irate mob baying for his blood after he allegedly swindled members of the public out of their hard-earned money through false pretences,” the statement read.

According to authorities, the incident followed reports that the man had been surrounded by residents demanding justice.
Police officers rushed to the scene and managed to save him, although his alleged accomplices managed to escape.
Shabbir is said to be no stranger to fraud-related cases and had previously been arrested in Ahero. He was reportedly out on bond but continued with his alleged schemes.
He is currently in custody as detectives pursue his accomplices, who remain at large.
