4 Nabbed by DCI While Stealing Bags of Lentils from Godown

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested  four suspects who were caught red-handed while stealing bags of lentils from a godown.

In a statement released on Sunday, August 31, the detectives stated that the arrests, coordinated by enforcement officers from Embakasi Sub-County, were made following a tip-off.

According to DCI, the four male suspects were arrested as they were loading bags of the legume into a lorry.

The suspects are currently in custody as detectives process them ahead of arraignment in court, according to DCI.

This comes hours after detectives also arrested those behind a series of livestock thefts in Kirinyaga, following a coordinated operation in the county.

In a statement issued on August 31, the detectives confirmed that the arrests were made following a series of intelligence-driven investigations.

DCI moreover disclosed that the suspects were caught unawares during a planned raid in Kagio and Mwea towns in Kirinyaga County.

The detectives revealed that the group not only consisted of thieves but also buyers, transporters, and butchers who played different roles in the livestock theft network.
