Ruto Makes Key Changes to the National Police Commission

President Ruto has nominated Dr. Amani Yuda Komora and Angeline Yiamiton Siparo to serve as the Chairperson and Member of the National Police Service Commission, respectively.

In a statement released by the Executive Office of the President on Monday, August 4, the nominees are tasked with overseeing the recruitment, appointment, promotion and discipline of officers within the National Police Service.

Dr. Komora, the nominee for Chairperson is the immediate former Vice-Chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission, where he has served since 2019.

Moreover, Ms. Siparo, nominated as a member of the Commission, has most recently coordinated the Young African Leaders Initiative Legacy Localization Project across 49 countries.

Between 2019 and 2022, she served as Chairperson of the National AIDS Control Council. 

Her career spanned work in the Ministry of Health, UNAIDS, and various health-focused international organizations.

The appointments follow recommendations by a selection panel formed to recruit nominees to the Commission, as outlined in a Kenya Gazette notice dated February 28, 2025.
