People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua has recently revealed that the opposition will establish a parallel electoral commission to monitor and safeguard the 2027 elections.
Speaking during an interview, Karua noted that the opposition will not allow the next election to be compromised.
“I want to restate very firmly that in this election, we will be vigilant. And even we, as the United Opposition, will have our own commission; the People’s IEBC that is to observe, give direction, and guide us. I ask the citizens to be alert. We have had too many flawed elections; but in this election, even if Ruto is both the IEBC chairman and a candidate, this election will not be stolen,” Karua noted.

Moreover, Karua called on citizens across the country to mobilize and protect the sanctity of the ballot, and allow those duly elected to serve.
Her remarks comes days after Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo called on the commission to take a hard stance against politicians who publicly suggest they intend to rig or steal elections.
Speaking on Sunday, July 20, Ngogoyo argued that such statements should not be taken lightly, as they signal an intention to incite unrest and compromise the integrity of Kenya’s electoral process.
