Former Nominated MP Catherine Nyamato Dies

Former Nominated Member of Parliament Catherine Nyamato has died. 

The former MP held the honour of being the first Gusii woman MP, a pioneering feat achieved through her nomination by former President Daniel arap Moi. 

She led between 1997-2002.

According to reports, Nyamato collapsed suddenly by the roadside near her farm in Kijauri, Nyamira County, on Wednesday. 

She was reportedly engaging with youth working on a local project when the incident occurred. 

She was immediately rushed to Summit Hospital, a local facility, where she was tragically pronounced dead.

Many took to social media and public forums to mourn her passing and celebrate her remarkable contributions.

Before her death, Nyamato wore many caps, both in and outside parliament. 

She served as National Women Leader for Narc-Kenya and was elected Secretary General of the League of Kenyan Women Voters.
