Moses Kuria Resigns as Ruto’s Senior Economic Advisor

Moses Kuria has announced his resignation from his role as Senior Economic Advisor to President William Ruto. 

In a statement he issued on Tuesday, July 8, Kuria confirmed that he had met with Ruto who accepted his resignation.

“This evening I met my boss and my friend President William Ruto. The President has graciously accepted my decision to resign from the government. I thank President Ruto for having given me an opportunity to serve as Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry for 11 months, Public Service, Delivery and Performance Management for 9 months, and Senior Economic Advisor for the last 10 months,” he noted.

Kuria previously held the Cabinet Secretary post for Trade and was later headed the Public Service docket.

The former CS went on to disclose that he will be moving on to pursue personal interests.

He further credited himself with helping design the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Moses Kuria’s first major appointment in President Ruto’s administration came on September 27, 2022, when he was appointed as Trade CS. 

However, in August 2024, he transitioned from the Cabinet to a strategic advisory position as a Senior Adviser in the Council of Economic Advisors (CEA).
