President William Ruto has reportedly donated Ksh 1 million to the family of the shot mask vendor, Boniface Kariuki, who was shot during the June 17 protests.
The donation was presented by Kangema MP, Peter Irungu Kihungi, who visited the family on July 2, 2025, following his passing on July 1.
“On behalf of President William Samoei Ruto, we conveyed his condolences and his commitment to ensuring justice is served. The President also extended a contribution of Ksh 1 million to support the family with funeral arrangements”, he stated.
Besides the president’s contribution, the MP also claimed that the leaders have assured the family of their full support without disclosing the amount of monetary support they donated, if any.
Kihungi noted that the family is yet to record their statement with the police, however, he maintained that the authorities are working on it.
“The family has not been able to record a statement with the police in pursuit of justice. In that regard, PS Omollo’s office is committed to following without delay”, he added.
