NPS Father’s Day Post Sparks Outrage Among Kenyans

The National Police Service (NPS) has received backlash from Kenyans online following a Father’s Day post.

June 15 is a day set aside for honoring fatherhood and the influence of fathers in society.

However, the post by NPS to celebrate fathers did not sit well with Kenyans, coming in the wake of the death of Voi-based teacher Albert Ojwang while in police custody.

Kenyans flocked to the comment section demanding justice for Ojwang who was arrested in Homa Bay County and transferred to Nairobi’s Central Police Station, where he died under mysterious circumstances.

According to many the late blogger’s son cannot celebrate Father’s Day with his father because of police brutality.

A section of Kenyans online also pointed out that the late Ojwang’s father will have no one to wish him Father’s Day since Ojwang was the only child.

Within the hour, the comment section turned into a tribute to Albert Ojwang, who left behind an infant son and a heartbroken father after his death.

Notably, the first daughter, Charlene Ruto, received a fair share of criticism after posting about her father, President Ruto, celebrating him on the special day.

As expected, Kenyans laid out their complaints about the president in her comments section, also reflecting on Ojwang’s death.
