Speaking after his release, Salasya faulted the government and authorities for the manner in which he was apprehended, claiming he was ‘arrested like a robber’.
According to the MP, the highway chase culminated in gunfire aimed at his convoy before he was finally nabbed.
He was moreover adamant his arrest was dangerous since his security detail was also armed at the time shots were allegedly fired at him on Friday.
Talking of the charges of spreading propaganda and insightful remarks, he denied any wrongdoing.
Salasya noted that there were many pseudo accounts under his name on social media which can be easily mistaken for the MP.
The ODPP released a statement on Monday, confirming Salasya was charged with hate speech contrary to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission Act.
