MP Salasya Allegedly Ambushed and Arrested while Traveling from Isiolo to Nanyuki

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has allegedly been arrested.

In a statement issued on his socials, he was ambushed by individuals he claims were officers from DCI at the Isiolo-Nanyuki road after addressing a rally in Isiolo.

According to Salasya, the officers opened fire at his convoy, adding that they were masked men with AK-47 rifles.

The MP moreover in his statement revealed that the alleged officers proceeded to disarm his bodyguards, confiscating their weapons, even as he initially managed to flee.

“I have just been attacked by unknown individuals claiming to be DCI officers. These people, heavily armed and moving with force, ambushed my convoy, disarmed my security team, confiscated their firearms, and pursued my vehicle. One of my security personnel managed to escape and helped me flee into a nearby bush for safety,” he stated.

Talking about the reasons behind his arrest, the lawmaker could not provide details but he seemingly intimated that he had been threatened by the individuals.

“They shot at my vehicle, aiming directly at me. Shortly after, they emerged with at least 15 AK47 rifles and confronted me with a chilling message—one I cannot disclose at this time for security reasons,” Salasya stated.

Salasya further maintained that he had not targeted the government in his ongoing countrywide campaign and thus questioned the motive behind the attack.

The lawmaker recently announced his Presidential bid for 2027.
