Several people were feared dead, while others were severely injured after a tragic accident at Pivot area along the Timau-Meru road in Meru County.
The incident occurred on Thursday, May 1, 2025, when a PSV matatu collided with a pickup.
According to reports, the matatu suffered severe damage, where its dashboard was destroyed and its doors were knocked out in the collision.
Reports also indicate that some passengers were trapped inside the matatu.
Local police officers and resident assisted in efforts to rescue those trapped in the matatu.
So far, the exact number of casualties and injuries is yet to be confirmed.
The area has so far been identified as a black spot for accidents.
A similar accident was witnessed several months ago where seven individuals lost their lives.
This consistent amount of accidents witnessed has grown concerns over road safety prompting the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to launch a nationwide crackdown on traffic law offenders.
