The family of Sylvia Kemunto has given Multimedia University a seven-day ultimatum to admit liability over the loss of their daughter.
Through Sheria Mtaani and lawyer Shadrack Wambui, the family has accused the university of gross negligence.
In a formal letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor, they detailed disturbing allegations surrounding the scenes which took place on March 30, 2025, where Kemuto was found dead within the school premises.
The deceased was found dead in the school septic tank after being strangled to death.

The Prime suspect, Philip Eric Mutinda, alleged that he gained unauthorized access to the hotel.
However, according to the family, Kemunto had previously reported incidents of harassment to the university but the Institution failed to act on her complaints.
So far, the administration has yet to offer any condolence message to the family, according to lawyer Danstan Omari.
Regarding the matter, Sheria Mtaani has cautioned that failure for the university to respond within seven days will result in legal action, which will include filing the petition with the Commission for University Education to revoke the university’s charter under Section 22 of the University Act.
