The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) nabbed two individuals following a shooting incident in the Hambaburo area in Tana River County.
The DCI in a statement released on March 23 2025, stated that the two suspects identified as Osman Muhumed (31) and Adhan Ahmed (19) targeted four herders who were taking care of their livestock.
“The arrest follows a distress report of a shooting incident in the Hambaburo area where two assailants targeted four herders tending their livestock, sending them running for their lives in a panic”
A team of officers from Charidende GSU camp and police station who responded to the situation recovered an AK-47, snuggly wrapped in sacks and concealed under the floor, two AK-47 magazines and 118 rounds of 7.62*39mm ammunition.
The items found were linked to a Manyatta house which was reported to be the house of one of the suspects.
They are currently being stored as exhibits, whereas the suspects are in police custody and awaiting arraignment in court.
