Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has filed a fresh application to be released on bond while he continues
He had previously filed an appeal against his jail sentence which is still pending.
The former Kiambu Governor was sentenced to 12 years in prison or pay a fine of Ksh53.5 million after he was found guilty of illegally awarding a tender during his reign as a governor.
Waititu was sentenced alongside his wife Susan, who was directed to pay a fine of Ksh500,000 or serve a one-year prison sentence.

Due to his misconduct, the magistrate stated that his actions could not be forgiven since his acts undermined the tenets of good governance.
Consequently, he filed an appeal while requesting bail but the court refused to grant the request after a successful application by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) opposing his bail request.
In the appeal, Waititu had argued that his health was diminishing as he complained of chest pains and blood pressure but all his efforts were futile as he was confined to remand at the Industrial Area prison.
