A Ugandan United Nations (UN) judge has been convicted for forcing a young woman to work as a slave.
According to the prosecutors, the UN judge identified as Lydia Mugambe forced the Ugandan woman to work as her maid and provide childcare for free after tricking her into coming to the U.K.
Mugambe, who is also said to be a High Court judge in Uganda, was studying for a doctorate in law at the University of Oxford when the injustice occurred.
The reports also indicated that the UN judge used the advantage of the fact that the victim lacked understanding of her rights.

Mugambe, on the other hand, denied the claims and appeared shocked when she heard she was being arrested.
“I am a judge in my country, I even have immunity. I am not a criminal. Yes, I have a diplomatic passport. I came here as a student, I don’t need anyone to work for me” she said.
However, the victim alleged that the high court judge, who was studying for a PhD at the University of Oxford, had conspired with Ugandan deputy high commissioner John Leonard Mugerwa to arrange for her to come to the UK.
Regarding the claims, Mugambe was found guilty of conspiring to facilitate the commission of a breach of UK immigration law, facilitating travel with a view to exploitation, forcing someone to work and conspiracy to intimidate a witness.
Her case will be heard at Oxford Crown Court on May 2.
