At least 13 people have been confirmed dead following a tragic road accident at the Migaa area along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
The accident which occurred on Friday morning at around 2 am involved a passenger matatu with 11 occupants and a trailer ferrying coffee seeds.
Reports indicate that the trailer, which was heading towards Eldoret, developed a brake failure and lost control, ramming into the matatu heading towards Nairobi from Kitale.

Officers from the Kenya Red Cross Society and the Nakuru Disaster Management team arrived and assisted in rushing the victims to the hospital.
The early morning accident caused a massive traffic snarl-up along the busy highway, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes to avoid the escalating gridlock.
The area chief stated that all 12 occupants of the PSV matatu and the driver of the trailer died in the horrible accident.
Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga confirmed the tragic incident, saying the victims included nine males, four females and a child.
“The victims included nine males, four females, and a child,” Muchiri said.
