Barcelona reclaimed the top position in the La Liga table with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Rayo Vallecano at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium on Monday night.
Although Barça did not perform at their best and faced considerable challenges from a well-organized Rayo team, a penalty converted by Robert Lewandowski in the first half was enough to secure all three points and place Barça back at the top of the standings with 14 games remaining.
The match began with a strong start from Barça, as Raphinha had two excellent chances early on but failed to convert either, while Lamine Yamal also squandered a great opportunity. Barça dominated the first 25 minutes but was unable to score.
