Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has confirmed that eight people were injured on Wednesday evening after a truck lost control and crashed into a supermarket at Ngeria Junction.
According to the governor, the truck was travelling from Eldoret when it veered off the road and rammed into the supermarket, injuring several people who were near the premises at the time of the accident.
Bii said county emergency response teams were immediately activated after authorities received reports of the incident.

He added that ambulances from Kapteldon, Kesses and Huruma hospitals were dispatched to reinforce the ambulance from Chepkigen in a coordinated rescue and evacuation operation.
The injured victims received first aid at Chepkigen Health Centre before being transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) for specialised treatment.
“This evening, a truck travelling from Eldoret veered off the road and crashed into a supermarket at Ngeria Junction, injuring eight people who were in the vicinity. Upon receiving the distress call, we immediately activated our emergency response teams and dispatched ambulances from Kapteldon, Kesses and Huruma hospitals to to reinforce the ambulance from Chepkigen.The injured were swiftly attended to at Chepkigen Health Centre and transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) for specialised treatment and further care,” he wrote.
The governor commended emergency responders and healthcare workers for their swift response, noting that their efforts ensured the victims received timely medical attention.
He further confirmed that all eight injured people were in stable condition and recovering well, while expressing hope for their full and speedy recovery.
