Police have apprehended five people in connection with a violent carjacking incident that resulted in the theft of goods valued at over Ksh 5.4 million.
In a statement issued by the Kenya National Police (NPS), a multi-agency security operation in Embu North successfully recovered a large stolen consignment of Colgate products.
The goods were stolen during a violent carjacking in the Gathoge area of Kirinyaga County, where five armed suspects attacked a company driver transporting the products.

Following intelligence gathered from members of the public, security officers conducted a raid in the Mutunduri area, reclaiming hundreds of boxes containing toothpaste, toothbrushes, detergents, and fabric softeners.
During the raid, two vehicles believed to have been used to transport the stolen goods were also impounded as part of the evidence.
The vehicles have been taken for forensic analysis to determine whether they are linked to other criminal incidents in the region.
The five suspects remain in custody and will be arraigned to face charges of violent robbery and handling stolen property.
Authorities are also probing whether the group is connected to a wider criminal network targeting major transport routes.
