The National Police Service (NPS) has intensified its war against mobile phone theft syndicates operating within the city, scoring a significant victory on Thursday with the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of dozens of stolen handsets.
The operation, which was executed by officers from the Central Police Station in the Nairobi Region, was the result of targeted intelligence gathering.
Police raided a shop located at Norwich House along Kimathi Street, a busy commercial hub in the Central Business District.

During the search, officers discovered 41 assorted mobile phones cleverly concealed inside a locked safe.
The suspects, whose identities have been withheld pending formal charges, were taken into custody at the scene.
The recovered mobile phones have since been secured as crucial exhibits.
Investigators are currently working to establish the rightful ownership of the devices, a process that will likely involve cross-referencing with reported theft cases and IMEI numbers.
The NPS confirmed that the operation is still active, as a third suspect managed to escape during the raid.
A manhunt is currently underway to track down the fugitive and bring them to justice.
