4 Officers Killed in a Road Crash in Garissa

Four police officers have been confirmed dead after a tragic road accident along the Garissa Highway on Sunday evening, June 22.

Reports indicate that the six officers were travelling in a vehicle that was allegedly speeding when the driver lost control, causing the car to roll several times. 

The tragic crash claimed the lives of four officers instantly.

Other two officers survived but sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

This comes weeks after two police officers lost their lives in a tragic road accident at Matisi area along the Webuye–Bungoma road.

The officers died after the police vehicle they were traveling in collided head-on with an oncoming trailer.

According to a police report, the two were traveling in a police Ford Ranger en route from Webuye toward Bungoma when the collision occurred. 

“Due to the impact, our officers sustained multiple body injuries and died on the spot, but their two rifles are safe. Scene visited sketched, and the bodies were moved to Webuye Sub County Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy,” a police statement read in part.

The impact of the crash was devastating, with the police vehicle suffering severe damage after smashing into the trailer.
