Detectives have arrested three suspects and recovered 32 mobile phones believed to have been stolen in Nairobi following investigations into a vehicle break-in reported in Murang’a in May 2025.
The suspects, identified as Michael Waweru, Wilson Wanjama and Samuel Kimani, were arrested during an operation conducted by detectives from Murang’a East Sub-County in collaboration with officers from DCI Central Nairobi.
The detectives, acting on intelligence, raided the suspects’ premises in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), where they recovered 32 assorted mobile phones and a tablet suspected to be stolen property.

The operation also led to the recovery of a MacBook Air, a Lightwave cash-counting machine and 22 empty mobile phone boxes without IMEI numbers.
Detectives further recovered two counter books, five small books, two notebooks and 12 receipt books, which are believed to contain records linked to the handling and sale of mobile phones.
The recovered items are expected to help detectives establish the source and ownership of the devices and determine whether the suspects are connected to other cases involving stolen phones.
The investigation follows a theft reported in Murang’a in May 2025, which involved the break-in of a locked motor vehicle.
The three suspects were escorted to Murang’a Police Station, where they remain in custody as detectives finalise investigations before they are arraigned in court.
