Three people died and several others sustained injuries after a multi-vehicle accident along the Mwea-Embu Highway on Sunday, September 14.
The fatal early morning accident occurred when a Toyota Probox collided head-on with a boda boda, killing the rider instantly.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Probox was speeding and appeared to be competing with another vehicle en route to Nairobi.

Occupying both lanes, one of the cars struck the oncoming motorcycle, resulting in the fatal crash.
Images and videos of the incident shared online showed the extent of damage at the scene, as the highway was littered with car parts, suggesting the impact was extensive.
The Probox was also badly damaged on the driver’s side, indicating the driver’s chances of survival were minimal.
Talking to the media, the area residents flagged the location as a black spot, calling on authorities to either expand the road or install speed bumps, citing rampant speeding as a growing concern in the area.
