2 Killed in a Road Crash Along Narok-Mai Mahiu Highway

A senior police officer is among the two fatalities of an accident along the Narok-Mai Mahiu Highway on the night of June 28.

The officer from the traffic wing has been identified as Chief Inspector George Kipchumba of the Narok Traffic Base.

According to reports, the accident happened at 10 pm after a heavy trailer lost control and rammed into two private vehicles, killing the officer and the heavy mover’s driver.

A police report established that the trailer, a Scania, which was en route to Mai Mahiu, veered off its lane to ram into the oncoming Toyota vehicles, a Prado TX and G-Touring.

The traffic officer was behind the wheel of the Prado TX; he died at the scene.

On impact, Inspector Kipchumba’s vehicle hit the G-Touring that was trailing him.

Reports have moreover indicated that at least six people sustained injuries in the accident.

It is further revealed that the officer’s vehicle had a passenger and four others were in the ill-fated trailer.

The driver of the G Touring also escaped the accident with injuries.

The victims were rushed to the Narok County Referral Hospital.

On the other hand the two bodies were booked at the facility’s morgue ahead of autopsy and the identification of the truck driver.
