Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has dropped her plan to run for the Makadara parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Elections, citing overwhelming pressure from Nairobi residents who urged her to remain in her current position.
On Saturday, August 22, Passaris formally launched her bid for a third term as Nairobi County Woman Representative, accompanied by a new campaign song endorsing her re-election.
In a recent interview, Passaris explained that while her desire to serve Makadara was genuine, the feedback she received during her consultations across the city changed her mind.

She noted that the decision was not made lightly. It followed extensive consultations with ODM party leadership, direct feedback from Nairobi residents, and opinion polls, all of which pointed in the same direction.
She described serving the people of Nairobi as a responsibility she has loved and embraced wholeheartedly.
The announcement marks a significant shift from her position in February, when Passaris declared she would run for MP, stating that the move would allow her to contribute more directly to constituency development.
She had chosen Makadara over Westlands because the seat would be vacant, as incumbent MP George Aladwa had indicated he would run for Nairobi Governor.
Passaris reaffirmed her commitment to the ODM party and the broader coalition, noting that former party leader Raila Odinga built the party for 20 years.
She intends to do her part to keep the Woman Representative seat within the broad-based coalition.
