WhatsApp has introduced a new browser-based calling feature that allows users to make and receive audio and video calls without downloading the desktop application.
According to reports, the latest update supports both one-on-one and group calls directly through WhatsApp Web.
It also enables users to place or answer calls from a browser while retaining features available on other linked devices.
This will mean users who have previously faced limitations when using WhatsApp Web can now enjoy a more seamless calling experience without needing the app.

Further reports indicate that the browser version will also include screen sharing, reactions and a dedicated tab containing call history and favourite contacts.
Additionally, the browser calls will remain end-to-end encrypted, have no time limits and be available at no extra cost.
Furthermore, the platform has launched a call transfer feature that allows users to move an ongoing group call between their phone, desktop and web browser without disconnecting.
The features will be expected to be rolled out gradually and will become available to users worldwide over the coming weeks.
